Lake Como walks a big success!

The first week’s walking around Lake Como has gone down a storm with clients, who awarded the trip and Nigel Lewis, their guide, a resounding ten out of ten!

Buses, ferries, and lots of walking, all wrapped up with gelato, pasta, cake and wine. The team covered plenty of miles and enjoyed great weather with stunning views. Can it get any better than this? We think so…..!

A number of clients field tested kit and upskilled themselves ready for trips to locations as spread from  Peru, Tanzania and China. Two days walking was broken up by a good meal and a session on Top Tips, with the chance to sample some local beers.

What’s not to like!

Final week in Amalfi brings the season to a close

Mountain Experience have had a fantastic month in Amalfi this year. The fourth week was a great success with the usual fantastic fare of food and drink, calorie free ice cream and cake, and more than enough wine, beer and limoncello!

This year’s autumn expedition will be in Chamonix and Lake Como areas so we won’t be returning to Amalfi until next year, but of course, that will make the return all the more sweeter!

Another great week, more great walks!

This last week was filled with sunshine, but heavy sea swells prevented our weekly sailing to Capri. Nevertheless, this weeks team had a great time and broke new ground with a walk to Minori and time spent exploring Ravello.

All team members visited the fantastic ruins at Pompeii or Herculaneum, and many of them ascended Vesuvius. Seven intrepid trekkers reached the far side of the Valle de Ferrierre National Reserve, described as “One of the best walks I’ve ever done” by Libby G.

Mountain Experience hope to work with you all again in the future.

All good things come to an end

What a great first week of this year’s Amalfi Walks. Mountain Experience, working with Explore! and Mont Blanc Adventures had a week of fantastic scenery, great food and great company.

The weather flirted with rain, but was never so bad that it got in the way. Next week should see more sun and just as much fun. Bring it on!

8,800ks done. Bring it on 2016!

What a great road trip! We drove 8,800km (5,500 miles) through England, France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Gibraltar. Four ferries, many amazing camping spots and a few climbs thrown in for good measure. What a great start to 2016. Here’s to more adventures this year.

Monday 13th October

This wasn’t my first time to do this, but I still felt the shock as the alarm woke me at 0350hrs in the morning. We were at The Summit Hotel in Kathmandu and our plan was to get an early start to beat the bad weather before it compromised any of the flights into Lukla. The usual scenes of chaos gripped the airport as people weighed, packed and repacked their kit for the Twin Otter flight into what has been dubbed…

Team Ultimo finish this year’s season for Mountain Experience on the Amalfi coast.

Mountain Experience finished this year’s expedition season with a final week on the beautiful Amalfi coast. Just south of Naples, the region has stunning scenery, ancient monuments and world class food. Team Ultimo indulged in all of that! We were really fortunate with the weather, just missing the heavy rain wherever we went. Occasionally the views were wreathed in cloud, but without fail, would always open up for us at some stage.

Team Quindici enjoyed great weather, fantastic food and stunning scenery, all finished off with a spell on the beach, gelato or a few glasses of wine. If that wasn’t enough, there were goats, left handed squirrels and mysterious small piles of pebbles thrown into the mix for good measure. A brilliant week!
